Ah, December already! It’s the season for Bōnenkai and the general disorder that comes with them, and there’s the vacuous commercialism of Christmas, of course. Time to waste money on gifts we don’t need and elaborate Christmas cakes, or an excuse to treat your lover to a romantic evening that’s as empty and commercialised as everything else.
Though I understand in the West there’s more emphasis on families being brought together, even if the religious connotations have mostly been lost in the Capitalist focus on excessive expenditure. That brings more problems though, doesn’t it? For many of us, family and old friends are absent, the likelihood of us ever seeing them again being extremely remote, if the party line is to be believed.
And then, so many of you are from different worlds and in all likeliness have no concept of the things I’m talking about. That leaves me curious as to how people intend to celebrate, or if you even intend to celebrate at all?
((OOC: I know it's a little early for Christmas talk, but I'm going to be very scarce over the next few weeks, so many papers to write, so I thought I'd get a post in now while I still have the time to reply!!))
