[The feed turns on to the school's nurse's office. Yes, Ashe has somehow managed to get a normal job for the first time. A small girl (well tigergirl if you want to be accurate) is sitting on the bed, her leg bloodied and her eyes filled with tears.]
...A-and then he tripped me and made me fall and then everyone started laughing at me...
[Ashe knelt beside the girl with a small bowl full of water and a rag. Wringing the extra water off, she carefully dabbed at the blood.]
Is that when the teacher found you?
Uh-huh. They all started to call me teacher's pet and just kept laughing and laughing and...
[The girl continued to sob, but Ashe remained calm, keeping to her task.]
She told me you fell on a branch when you fell. That explains why the cut is deep for merely falling down.
C-can you fix it?
Of course. Though I must apologize, this may hurt a little.
[Placing her hand over the wound, a faint glow exuded from the palm of her hand. The little girl jumped a bit, not expecting this at all.]
Wh-what is that?!
Please stop moving. Just watch for a moment.
[The more she began to calm, the more intently she watched Ashe. The spell finished, the girl looked down in surprise to see the cut was much smaller.]
W-wow! That's amazing!
'Tis nothing more than a simple cure spell.
A spell?
Yes. I imagine magick is not all uncommon here.
[The girl nodded her head.] I've seen some of the other kids using magic. They're the lucky ones, there's something special about them. Not like me. I'm just useless.
[Ashe paused for but a moment, and then proceeded to wrap a bandage around the girl's leg.]
You shouldn't speak that way about yourself.
Why? Everyone else does, so why can't I say it?
Because it is only truth if you allow it to be. [Ashes' eyes met with the girl's.] You wish to stop their torments, yet you succumb to their words. What does that accomplish?
I...I don't know...
[The girl looked away. Somehow Ashe had expected that.] The cruelty of others is frightening at times, but it is something you must stand against. Strength and ability does not always lie in steel or spell. If their words strike you, prove to them your will. Should you continue down this path, nothing will change. [Securing the bandage, Ashe held onto the thought for a moment. The girl, she did the same.]
It is done. [Picking up the kit at her side, Ashe stood up a little higher than the girl.] Magick will only do so much on its own. You that must have the strength to stand up again.
[The girl once again looked up at Ashe, some tears still in her eyes. But they were also filled with something else. Something made all the more apparent by the small smile she gave Ashe.]
C-can I stay here...just for a little bit?
If that is what you wish. Excuse me. [Turning away, Ashe walked past the curtain that separated this bed from the others. There was still work to attend to.]
Thank you nurse.
[For a small moment Ashe looked back, looking on the girl who just moments ago looked as though she had given up on everything. Bowing her head, Ashe took her leave, closing the curtain to allow the girl some rest.]
