there's so many things he could think about in these few brief minutes bridging the gap between the months of pent-up, guilty worry and the solid, visual evidence that she's fine she's alive she's okay - but he doesn't settle on any of it, his time filled up instead with travel and the wearing of a vacant, vaguely goofy smile
