This place is so cool. The technology is really advanced and we're so close to the stars! They're almost impossible to track at this speed, but even so, looking at them passing by is pretty neat. I wish I could recognize a few constellations, but we're... too far away.

I agree - it is wonderful to be rewarded for learning!

I am afraid I do not know much about dolphins, however.

Yeah! It's a great motivator, so even people who don't like it might be willing to learn a thing or two.

I heard one of those guys in the admissions area mention it a while ago. It's pretty sad if it's true, but I just can't bring myself to be shocked. Humanity can be pretty dumb.

Oh, I'm Genis by the way!

I have not begun attending yet, and have never been to a "school" before, so I am very excited!

I do not think it is particularly sad, myself... Humans have endless potential, and intelligence is not all that matters.

My name is Nia! Pleased to meet you.

[ What? This is a crime! If she's excited to go, then he thinks she should go right now! ...Or tomorrow. ]

You should go as soon as possible. School can be really fun and you're always learning new things. Plus, it's a great place to make friends.

Well... I guess you're right. It may not be everything, but intelligence is pretty high up there. You can't utilize your potential if you're not smart enough to figure out how.

Pleased to meet you, too!

[PINGED BY SCHOOL.]

So, a new arrival? What level of schooling are you planning on taking?

[ There's magic, too! ]

I'm signing up for high school! I'm not too far away from the minimum recommended age and I can do the work on my own. What I'm really hoping is that it'll be challenging-I wouldn't be learning anything if I signed up for primary school and I don't want to waste my time or the teacher's.

Hm. Perhaps I may be seeing you in my class, then. I teach Magic Theory as a combination high school and university course. Perhaps that may provide the challenge you are looking for.

Oh! You teach magic?

I am a pretty good sorcerer, but it can't hurt to drop by! Are there a lot of students in your class?

Isn't it incredible?! Normally we would have to pay to get this kind of privilege! Getting paid for it is like having our cake and eating it too!

[These two are going to be very good friends. 8| ]

[ Bound in friendship thanks to academics! ]

You're already enrolled?! [ Jealoussss. He won't be able to start until -tomorrow- and that's so far away! ] What level are you taking? Are the classes challenging?

Absolutely! I've been enrolled in every High School class since December!

Some of them are tougher than others. Personally, my favorite is Miss Knowledge's magic classes... but once the Magic Guild opens up, we can expand the curriculum to much more than one class!

Wow! You must have learned a lot already! And that's the same level I'll be attending soon!

[ Hmmm. ]

Magic is pretty prevalent here, isn't it? I'm not used to so many people knowing it. [ A beat. ] But what's the Magic Guild? What'll it be like?

[ OH NO. IT'S ZELOS. ]

What are you doing here?!

[ Yup. Disregarding Zelos' question with his own question. ]

Don't ask something so stupid. I'm here for the same reason you are.

... Anyway, if you're wondering, Lloyd is also here. [and Kratos? Still pretending to not know him.]

[ What. Did you. Just say. ]

It wasn't really a question that needed an answer, Zelos.

[ Maaaaaan. Couldn't another ship have rescued him.... But at least Zelos brought up some good news! ]

Lloyd's here? What about Colette and the others?

U-umm, I think the dolphins are supposed to be really smart. I never actually met them though.

They probably are. But I wonder, if they're not humanoid, how are people even able to understand them? It's one thing to put them through a bunch of problem solving tests, but intelligence is much more than that.

[uhhhhhhhhhh......]

Huh? What else is intelligence?

Reply

[video] stumblelies July 20 2011, 01:03:38 UTC
It can also be things like abstract thought, understanding, communication, reasoning, learning, planning and emotional intelligence. Problem solving is just one aspect! It's hard to measure everything else when you can't communicate with them....
