Oh, there tends to be a steady stream of refugees that are 'rescued' every so often. One can tell when there's a newbie since there's actually not a lot of us compared to the rest of the population on the ship!

Have you checked out your room assignment yet? Just a warning, the rooms you start with are ridiculously small, but you don't have to pay rent. You just have to share with several other people.

You'll be able to move out to the Deckswabbers floor after you take on a mission. It's much better! And from there on out things can only get better from there.
