Then the answer is no. They are far from being alive as I have to control them all individually.

That is because humans have their own agendas. Instead of thinking of dolls as things with no initiative you should think of them as clay; they are able to bend to your will as long as you have the skill to do so.

Honestly I don't think anyone in Gensokyo is good or evil, including Marisa. We all lie somewhere in the middle, myself included.

I do not think so at all? I just refuse to bother with interpersonal relationships. See, if I bothered to make friends I would not have the time to practice and perfect my skills like I have.
