Dance Like No One's Watching [Video/Action]

[Ashura was out in the park today. He had a day off and without Little Ashura around, he had more and more free time. It was... strange, having that free time and not having it filled by a small child walking at his heels or in his arms. He missed that, though. He missed having something or someone to dote on, to cuddle, to wake him in the middle ( Read more... )

[Ashura blinked, finishing the round and lowering his sword. If he breathed heavily he hid it well, smiling at Larsa.]

Thank you Larsa.

It is the truth; it felt like I was watching you perform an extremely complicated dance-one that would most definitely be of great use in a real sword fight.

Ah, well, you are correct. Those are sword katas from my land. I am a trained swords master.

Truly? Have you taught pupils before?

Not myself. My station did not allow me the time, nor would it have been... proper. Though here I would not mind teaching.

Would it be rude of me to ask why such a thing was not allowed...?

Well, I was the King. The king cannot be seen to be teaching something like sword play or showing favor to particular groups - especially in his army.

I... do not see the harm in such a thing. The army belongs to you, does it not? Therefore, if you are able to train them personally....

But how can I personally train several thousand soldiers? It is not possible for me to do so and to also attend to duties of state. I can lead them and train with them, but train them myself? No. That also shows a lack of faith in mine own commanders and teachers.

You could limit yourself to simply teaching the highest ranked soldiers, such as a commandant. Then, when they instruct their pupils, in a way it is like you are teaching them as well.

I know the duties of being a ruler... must be difficult. And that at times, you will most likely stretch yourself thin... Ah, but even so, you said you would train with them yourself. If my suggestion is impossible, then that I agree that it is the next best thing.

The balance is delicate and easily swayed to either side, both of which can be become unacceptable.

But did you ask because you seek a teacher?

If only things were a bit easier.

Oh, I-I was... merely curious....

[He chuckles.]

If you would like to learn Larsa, I will teach you.

I am not sure I am destined to learn the sword. I have a bit of skill, enough to fend off monsters if need be, but I am unable to use my sword seriously against another person.

That aside, would you really be comfortable teaching me? Not only am I young, but I... used to be in a position similar to yours.

I said I was willing, and so I am. And if nothing else I will have increased your ability to defend yourself - and I think that well worth teaching.
