[Atem is sitting at his desk, nothing phenomenal here- except that he seems to be in the possession of two Duel Disks. If you don't know what that is, hold on. He's about to explain it.]

I'm looking to give away one of these Duel Disks. This one is not active right now. I'll give it away for free to an actual Duelist. Anyone else can buy it for ( Read more... )

Don't sell it for it to be used for spare parts, no matter what those Duel Disks seem a nice work of technology. I understand the need of spare parts but as an inventor myself I don't approve of something unique like that being simply broken apart for reuse of its parts unless there's an emergency.

[She certainly wouldn't like one of her inventions to be used that way, unless it was the only way to get materials.]

That said... I'm curious about that game, how does it go?

[The Duel Disks are a fine work of technology but nothing too different from what she has seen or could do herself, so, for once, she's only mildly interested in the technological part of this.]

This one isn't especially special. They sell them in the game shops in the districts.

[Otherwise he wouldn't have dreamed of saying something like that. But they're mass produced so ... who cares anymore.

He takes the deck out from the Duel Disk that he was showing, the life point counter shutting down automatically.]

The game is played with a deck of these. The object is to lower your opponents life points to zero through battle.

Oh, then forget what I said. I thought it had been made specially or something.

[Mas production does take away value of work after all, still, she won't make an offer. She's not desperate enough and even if it's a mass product she thinks that machines are better used when they are used for what they were created.]

Sounds pretty simple... Too simple even, if that's all there is to it then it must be boring once you know that your opponent has stronger monsters than you.

[The other one on his desk was specially made for him but he doesn't think that's important at this time. He merely nods. Then ... not so noddy.]

Even the most powerful monsters have been brought down by sheer strategic moves. [And he carries the three most powerful cards in his deck anywaylol] Setting up a deck is more than just picking powerful monsters. You need lower leveled monsters to summon more powerful ones.

The term from someone in my world who plays the game Duel Monsters.

It's a game? Huh.

What's it like?

It pits two duelists against each other in a battle of strategy and wits. The point is to lower your opponents life points to zero before they can do the same to you.

[He's not surprised.]

It's a game that seems to be solely from my world alone. [But you get a nod for the second question.]

I don't have any matches scheduled right now. I'll let you know when one comes along. [He's assuming he might not for a while what with all the hubbub of Sif leaving and getting back to 'normal'.]

...I don't really think I count as a Duelist yet. Bummer.

Why not? [HE'S CONFUSED]

Cause I'm still learning. And haven't won any games yet.

You're still a duelist to me, Marisa. [PRIDE AND CONFIDENT TONE. Because you are.]
