[Wolfram is studying the (severely lacking) map that he's constructed of the Sigrun. He's frowning, stopping only to write down comments in his notebook, grumbling to himself.] Why isn't this on the map?

It's awfully suspicious that they would simply leave this ship. They must have met pirates. [He goes back to writing in numbers in his ( Read more... )

[Marisa looks up from her Guide and over to where Wolfram was. She decides to leave her stacks of books around her, tall enough to have hidden the witch, and go over to get a look at the map.]

Why pirates?

[He glances away from his work, clearly irritated by how poorly the other ship is lining up.]

It's a ship, isn't it? Pirates attack ships.

Yeah, I guess so, but it's a bit too big of a ship for common pirates to attack. Maybe some critters got out and ate everyone.

The pirates I was familiar with preferred to attack larger ships. They got more slaves that way.

..Of course, some gigantic, alien monster might also be the reason the ship is deserted. But then, shouldn't there be traces left?

Not if there are scavengers on the ship. They'll eat bones and all.

They obviously can't navigate a ship, if they have simply left Sigrun.

They might not be intelligent aliens. I think there was this one movie about a bunch of aliens that couldn't fly a ship, but ate everyone on it.

Was it a documentary?

Um... [thinks a moment] It's like a movie, but non-fiction. A recounting of something that really happened without any creative license of embellishment.

[He blinks.] Are you saying that it was? Or did you simply define 'documentary' for me?

Oh. I just defined documentary, ze. I think I might have misunderstood what you were asking.

No. I wanted to know if the movie you saw had any truth in it.

I have no idea. But I've seen stuff here I thought only existed in movies so... I dunno. There could be.
