Observation XXVIII [dream]

[You like metaphors Thor?]

[Blackness as far as the eye can see except for a small indistinct light. The ground was paved with old cobbled bricks, wearing away with time with no distinct pattern. And Echo was sitting there, wearing a dress far from her usual uniform, a leg iron clasped around her right ankle. Above, several stuffed dolls could be seen: a magician, a fox, a white wolf, a girl with red hair, someone loved, and others, each with similar irons clasped around their hands and legs.]

[Silence was broken with a piercing laughter. Echo's head shot up, eyes filled with fear.]

Are you suffering Echo~?

[Behind Echo appeared a curtain of black, held together by another person. Only her naked legs could be seen, yet this sight alone moved Echo to run. The girl behind the curtain laughed some more, clapping her hands with the sound of heavy iron against the pavement.]

Run and run as far away as you can Echo~!

[Echo's hands held tightly against her ears, trying to drown out the noise. The light followed Echo from above, but only serving to prove the absolute infinite black that made this world. The iron grew more and more heavy with each step.]

[A small pothole was all it took to trip Echo, sending her small body skidding slightly against the ground. Panting heavily, the girl tried to push herself up.]

[Have to get away.]

[Have to get away.]

Useless doll.

[The figure again appeared, this time right in front of Echo.]

You just keep forgetting I'm always right behind you~

[The figure stepped out from behind the curtain. Noise. The real object to Echo's reflection. Shroud in a simple white strapless dress and a crimson robe loosely drawn about her arms, Noise wore an all too familiar grin.]

Always so frightened, aren’t we ‘Little Echo?’

[Noise reached her hand to caress Echo’s cheek, and impulsively, Echo drew away from the touch. Noise’s grin fleshed out into a full on sadistic smile as her hand tightly grasped Echo’s neck and lifted her with minimal effort.]

It’s always the same, isn’t it? You run and run, but in the end you will never escape.

[A yelp escaped from Echo as Noise tightened her grip.]

Everyone is gone now. You know what that means Echo, don’t you? I don’t need you to hide me anymore. You're not needed anymore. What’s useless now…

[With a flick of her wrist, Noise threw Echo against the ground.]

…Should just disappear.
