Twenty Fourth Hope || [video] || come dream with me tonight
[Your guides will be showing you a very interesting sight this evening. Your video comes on to show you an area that isn't anywhere on the ship. In fact, none of you will recognize it as it's a place found only on Cocoon. A place known as the Hanging Edge. In this place, the camera man is on a very long metal highway that seems to stretch on forever. There's no visible sky, just... a green canopy, like a metallic mockery of a forest. But there's no plant life here. Only metal as far as the eye can see. The scenery is countless more highways like the one the camera man is standing on and strange futuristic buildings hanging from said highways and a vast network of large metal pipes.
Immediately, you'll notice two things about this scene. One is the noises. The sound of gunfire, explosions, the roars of monsters and the screams of dying humans. It's obvious there's a bloody conflict going on. The second is the way the feed's view keeps shifting and moving. It seems irregular for someone holding a guide or other recording device. And there's also the fact that the view is roughly five feet off the ground. It's almost as though the feed is being recorded through the eyes of someone rather than a guide. And then the cameraman speaks, breathless and disbelieving. Some of you may recognize his voice as belonging to Hope Estheim]
Wha..? This can't be... Cocoon!?
Hope!!
[Hope's gaze instantly turns toward that voice. It belongs to a woman with a machine gun who comes running over to him. She kneels in front of him and places a caring hand on his shoulder, concern in her eyes.]
Are you hurt honey?
M-mom...?
I need you to stay here where it's safe, okay? I'm going to help fight so we can make it out of here. Don't worry, I'll be right back.
N-no!! Mom don't! This has happened before! This is where you-!!
[However, Hope's mom ignores her son's pleas. She gives him a loving smile and leans in to kiss him on the forehead. Then she turns around and runs off toward the sounds of bloodshed. Hope however, after recovering from his initial shock runs after her.]
Mom!!
[However, before either of them get very far, a rocket from off in the distance hits the ground in front of them. When the smoke clears, the highway begins to groan and crack. The section that Hope's mom is standing on falls away, taking her with it.]
NO!!
[Hope dives forward, thrusting out a hand. He manages to grab his mother by the hand, from which she dangles above what looks like a bottomless chasm. Unfortunately, as the loud pained grunts indicate, Hope can't hold on for much longer. In addition to this, his mom seems to be making no effort to grab on to him. In fact, her expression looks calm. As if she's accepting her fate.]
Hope... sweetheart you have to let go.
No! I'm not gonna watch you die again! Just hold on!
[His voice is stained with tears, like he's trying just as hard to keep from crying as he is to keep his mother from falling to her death. His mother gives him the same loving smile she gave him earlier.]
Hope... promise me you'll be safe. Promise me that no matter what happens, you'll keep living. I love you son.
[And at those last words, she slips out of Hope's hands and falls. Almost in slow motion she vanishes into the black abyss below. Hope throws out his hand after her, but it's too late. She's gone.]

(OOC: Ooookay, so my Hope muse hates my guts now. Basically, you just saw Hope have a nightmare of the worst day of his life with a few minor differences. The feed ended mid-scream because Hope just woke up screaming in his bedroom in 3-7. Roommates can feel free to action it up. Responses wil be ICly delayed by a few minutes as Hope decides he doesn't want to go back to sleep and checks the guide t keep himself up. He's going to see his dream on the network and be... displeased.)
