[Despite sharing similar views concerning Valentine's Day, Sherlock can't help but look slightly amused at your display.]

The poor pre-recorded children. How disappointed they must be.

They've no souls to feel disappointment with.

[Holmes is swiftly putting on a few disguises so that his employer won't notice him ditching the broadcast-- good thing he works at a puppet theater, where props are plentiful.]

No. But those unlucky enough to view this 'episode' would be.

[Oh, Holmes. Nice false nose, by the way.]

Your nose is on crooked.

I'm certain that someone better suited to the task will replace my mediocre puppeteering endeavors.

[He rolls his eyes, and then reaches over to find something that looks like an adhesive so the nose will stay in place.

This may or may not be a huge mistake.]

Better?

[Hello, disembodied clapping!]

And here I thought that puppeteering wasn't my strong suit.

[Soon you can hear Kurt's voice.] You clearly showed them how it's done.

[She's watching this like the blank slate of a kid she is.]

Is that true?

As objectively as possible, yes.

[Not really, but he's convinced that that's the truth of the matter.]

I'm sure you've heard stories to the contrary.

Huh. Was there a story before?

I'm sure others will be able to tell the story far better than I could-- it involves flowery language and lessons about the virtues of true love.

The holiday arose from the whole romantic aspect of the thing. The underground marriages where marriages are forbidden conveys the message that 'true love can't be stopped by anything' or something along those lines.

In other words, pretty much like every other human holiday. Celebrating some 'aspect of life' that most people think positively of, though it loses its meaning over time.

[Objective Minato is being objective.]

[Also, why he is watching a children's show is unknown.]

Religious martyrdom giving rise to romantic inclinations-- unlikely, but I suppose any institution has its capability to surprise.

[Not that he really cares about this particular brand of surprise, of course.]

A lot of holidays got started like that. Like St. Patrick's day, although how it's celebrated now is nothing like what the original holiday was about.

Oh well. Whatever gives people reason to celebrate something, I suppose. I don't care about it too much, myself, but I'm not about to argue against the free chocolate and other food I can get sometimes from the festives.

[He knows what's important.]

I've never understood why polite society is always so eager for celebration-- the occasions are superfluous at best, and more often than not lead to awkward dinner conversations and family disputes.
