The building you're in just exploded. You've been injured, but you can still escape before it caves in. Some distance away, you see another survivor, but they're not going to make it on their own. If you go back to help them, no matter what your fancy powers are, there is a high chance that you might not get out of there alive.

Of course. Helping others is important, and a small chance is better than none.

Well, generally speaking as a judge of hell I am outside the cycle of life and death, and would have nothing to fear of the explosion. Also as a judge, it is not my place to get involved and choose if someone should live or die arbitrarily, if they are meant to die then, then that is what should happen, if they are not meant to die then they will survive.

That is not to say sometimes accidents happen... but generally speaking it is the role of the shinigami to make sure it stays mostly to schedule.

But, depending on the situation, I can make my own actions, and in that case, I would want to help them.

I have heard of it, it's a bit perplexing.... But, if people chose to do so, it's not the first instance like that I've run into.
