Is it a tournament?

Not exactly. It's more of a ladder if you will.

[alizarinsea]

A ladder? I'm guessing you don't mean a literal one.

[bellgardener]

No, but consider it almost like an actual ladder. To climb it, you must defeat each gym leader, elite four member, and the champion. Once you're at the top, you are the new champion. Of course, you can always get knocked down a few rungs, but you never hit the bottom.

How do you participate, then?

You must defeat one gym leader. It's most recommended to hit the bottom, but nothing is stopping you from doing them in any order.

Gym leader...what kind of fight is it, exactly?

[bellgardener]

A Pokemon battle. You must use your Pokemon in the best way possible, to defeat us. There are generally few rules unless the Gym Leader is bored.

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but...what's a "Pokemon"?
