It's kind of up to you! He's an official hellhound, so if Danny can sense demonic things/general supernatural stuff, definitely.

*facepalms* But ghosts are the only supernatural thing that exists in DP.

I've been going with the idea that its the substance something is made out of that he feels. So he feels things made out of supernatural substances. Ectoplasm, spirit energy, etc. He won't feel anything supernatural that is inside a human form. And he won't feel anything if its supernatural energy hiding inside a normal human form.
