...

Lovers don't always get a happy ending, do they?

[ ooc: yeah she saw Moulin Rouge! at Xion's party, and if you are not aware it has a distinct lack of a happily ever after. ]

No. But largely, I think, many lovers don't get a happy ending-- because they choose not to. Some endings are inevitable, perhaps-- but not all failing relationships are doomed.

... True. I suppose statistically it makes sense too.

[ IT'S STILL DEPRESSING ]

[I KNOW IT IS.]

Therefore, I think the best thing to do is treasure what you have while you have it. You never know when something can go wrong. [Like your planet burning up from heart burn.] And breaking up with one lover isn't always a bad thing. It could even lead you to a better happiness with someone else.

[ There is a slight delay before she responds since she's kind of stuck on the whole ONE TRUE LOVE mentality. ]

Someone else?

Indeed. Sometimes you don't find the right person right away. You date to find out if they are.

[He kinda guessed, I think. girls *shot for hypocrisy*]

Right. Dating.

I would think you would want to take a good amount of time before committing yourself to only one person. Hence, dating. After all, what if you only think a person is the one for you? What if that person changes? It happens.

I've never actually seen it happen like that.

Well, it happened fairly often back at home. There were too many people, I guess.

It really was silly to think otherwise.

Perhaps. But I don't think it was necessarily wrong. How can anyone not hope that everyone can find someone to cherish and spend their lives with? I certainly do. To live a lonely life is a horrible thing.

[ A much longer delay than last time. ]

Yes. It is.

I don't want people to go through that.

All the more reason to keep hoping. To hope that everyone can find happiness is not a sin. It's always hard to see past the tragedy, but you have to pick your eyes up off the sadness and look for the good in things.

Otherwise, life just becomes too sad. And meaningless.

Right.

People would think that it's a childish way to view things but... It's just what I believe.

I definitely have to agree with you. It's useless to dwell on the miseries in life-- better to get up and move on towards something good. Sadness need only last for a short time. Happiness can last you years.

Either one can motivate a person... But sadness can consume you.
