Reading, Relaxing and Shopping

 I had a good weekend.

I ran my modern-day horror game briefly as two of my players were completely spent; one from working for 3 days with almost no sleep and the other from fighting all day at an event.  Wouldn't you know it would be the game I spent 10 hours prepping for? Oh well, I will be soooo ready when next game rolls around.  We lounged about a fair bit this weekend and I got to read some of the stories in; Tales of Pain and Wonder.   I love them all so far and am appreciating the little threads of connection between the stories.  Caitlin Kiernan is an amazing writer, I am really looking forward to the upcoming 'Best Of' that is in the works over at Subterranean Press.  I also read a bit more in Carol Berg's; Breath and Bone and in M.R. James'; A Warning to the Curious.  Both excellent so far.

Yesterday was taken up with a lot of tax-free shopping.  The great state of Massachusetts held a tax-free weekend so we finally picked up a grill, and garboy got it most of the way assembled.  We are stuck because one of the factory installed screws we need to loosen is apparently super-glued in place and our efforts to budge it are starting to strip the darn thing.  We'll get it sorted. We also picked up a bird bath, a bird feeder and something to hang it off the deck, a hose and a sprayer nozzle, some paint I needed and little crafty bits, a new controller for the X-Box  and I got a copy of;  Swords & Dark Magic; a new anthology with an obvious theme.  I'm looking forward to reading it especially Caitlin's; The Sea Troll's Daughter.  Getting a hose and watering the lawn, as I expected, finally brought some much needed rain.  Hopefully people's wells will have come back from their dry states.  We really need more rain, hopefully we will get more later today.

I have a long list of things I need to do today, I should get to work on it.
