I followed your advice and ran the scan. It found an infected file that clearly matched to the link I'd clicked, and said file has now been deleted. I'm hoping that means crisis is averted? Thank you so much, shahnibutt - I really am useless with these things. Thank you thank you thank you ♥

I know because it happened to me, though in my case the IM was from someone I knew, who had been infected. And yes, Avast is MUCH better than Norton in that regard. I hope it's gone for good. ♥ Never want my darling One's computer to get ruined, no no~
