this past weekend we had my family birthday party (two weeks early, so no birthday wishes just yet). my brother, being the ridiculous person that he is, gave me one of the most memorable gifts yet. not memorable in what it was, but in how it was packaged (although it was a pretty good gift). to make the story even better, picture this happening in a public restaurant with 11 other family members.
he first gave me a small box wrapped rather ridiculously in packaging tape and started gushing about the gift while i was unwrapping it. "you're gonna love this", "i can't wait till you open this", etc. i finally open the box and remove two cd's by two artists i've not any certain respect for, the black-eyed peas and eve. both cd's were clearly marked with 99 cent price tags.
i'm confused and disappointed, and along comes the next box. i open it, not getting my hopes up. turns out this one contains one of those cd-rom jewel cases with the eve cd from the previous box in it (the eve case was apparently empty), and the soundtrack to the blockbuster hit movie, showtime. yes, showtime, with eddie murphy and robert de niro. i probably laughed for about ten minutes after that moment. i had no idea they even made a cd with songs inspired by a movie that probably sucked more inspiration out of the world than it contributed. hilarious.
the final gift ended up being civilization 4: warlords, which ended up making the whole ordeal quite worthwhile. i'm installing it right now and will probably be sucked in for the rest of the night. wish me luck.
