Friday Night:
Had to pick up an appetizer dish for the bridal shower. Wanted to have some sort of naughty dish, like weiners in a blanket or phallic veggie tray, but ended up buying fruit and veggie trays from Vons (which I will never do again because they are grossly overpriced, bastards).
The bridal shower was fun. I couldn't afford to buy any of the "wares," but I did win a keychain of a cartoonish-y guy with a big penis for a nose. The woman who demonstrated the party did make over $800 - I bet she was happy. My mom used to drag me to Tupperware, Princess House, stamps, jewelry, and other house parties before I was 13, AND for those who know me I'm not exactly shy about the World of Sex, but never in my whole life would I have thought I was going to be witness to a room of suburban singletons and smug-marrieds ouuuuing and ahhhhhing over Sex Grease and the Rabbit.
Jill had a "Lingerie Fund" collection box for April, in which the guests contributed, and I know April had a very good time picking out the items she wanted for her impending nuptials. She had fun that night, that's the important thing.
Saturday Night:
After spending an afternoon with my brother going over my resume and cover letters, he dropped me off at April's for her Bachelorette Party. My brother had to say hi to Apes, they're like siblings themselves (April calls my brother her brother). Bubba got to meet Mike - my brother and the rest of the drumline trash canned Mike once during band camp (high school) - Mike remembers it, but my brother doesn't - it was a lighthearted and humorous meeting.
Before leaving for April's "Last Night Out As A Single Woman", we (being April and her four bridesmaids: Jill (Matron of Honor), Summer (her sister), me (Childhood BFF), and Melinda (a friend made in the last few years)) each took a shot from the penis shot glasses April had won in a raffle the night before.
We headed to The Cellar in Upland for drinks and appetizers and, after spending some time at the bar, DANCING. April was all geared up in a princess tiara with star streamers, "Bride to Be" buttons, beads, a "Good Girl/Bad Girl" wand, and (my added touch) a Penis Antennae headband - she was easy to find in a crowd. We kicked off our night of dancing and festivities by each partaking in a Blow Job.
Melinda somehow broke her BJ shot glass and for the next hour or so proceeded to be a grumpy-gus, refusing to dance by saying she wasn't drunk enough, asking if the group could go somewhere else, and then finally while the rest of was a inside having a faboo ol' time had a friend pick her up but didn't even bother to tell any of us until a couple of hours later when we realized she was gone and Jill called her (but she didn't even call Jill back, she just sent her a text message apologizing for leaving that a friend picked her up and she didn't want to ruin our fun). I would say at least she apologized, but the entire night she was being bratty and starting to spoil a good time that was supposed to be April-centered. April was so far gone that she didn't give a hoot - she was dancing having the time of her life, but it was still incredibly rude and her behavior was worthy of us commenting on it whenever we sat outside for brief breaks from dancing (when April's drunk she becomes a marathon dancer and you have to pretty much force her to sit and take a water break, it's more cute than annoying though) - Summer revealed that Melinda had been talking crap about me earlier (thank goodness she wouldn't say what she said) and I added that I never liked the vibe she sent out anyways, then Apes called her a bitch and said she wished she never asked her to be a part of her wedding (adding that she once hit on Mike too) .
Aside from the "Bratty Bridesmaid," the night was a great success. We ended up dancing so much that we didn't get a chance to do any of the activity cards Jill brought, but we had so much fun that it didn't matter.
At closing time, this guy "George" followed Summer (I guess he had been hitting on her all night, despite Summer's "hands off" signals ... actually practically every guy there hit on her all night) out of the club. She grabbed my hand - I thought she was just trying to get all of us out of there so I grabbed April's hand and she grabbed Jill's and we walked a chain out of there - but when we got to Jill's "Mom Mobile" (her van, a really spiffy one too), Summer told George "I'm a lesbian, this is my girlfriend Margaret. We've been together for 2 years." I wasn't shocked, I just wasn't prepared so I didn't have anything clever to say to play along with it, I don't even remember what I did say. I don't think George bought it, but I do think he finally took the hint and he left.
We returned to April and Mike's house where Mike and his friends were playing Poker. So, we all ended up playing Poker (for "pride" not cash) and goofing off until 4 am. I had to take April's "Good Girl/Bad Girl" wand away from her numerous times because she was getting abusive, promising each time I would give it back to her after she's behaved and a few hands a poker. When Mike went to get food, Jill suggested we T.P. Melinda's car (she hadn't come back to pick it up yet). And yes, we ran outside and tried to complete the task before Mike came home, which we almost did - we finished but got caught in his headlights and we all made a mad dash for the house.
It was April's night and it was LOADS OF FUN! There was one party pooper, but thank goodness she didn't stay around to ruin our fun. We took lots of pictures and will have plenty of stories to tell April, should she not remember the night.
