I did enjoy this. You've written something that's really peaceful and in tune with the bees and the flowers.

ETA - I've now had time to read the previous stories and think that this is an excellent follow on.

Thanks so much. "Malamute" started it all, and I rather startled myself by how vividly that world came to life via the senses. And it's such a sad ending that I had to write these others to bring peace and beauty back to Watson's life.

You're welcome. "Malamute" is just sorrowful; this one is a good deal more hopeful and happy.

This is lovely. You've captured the heartbreak, hard work, and joy of spring, and renewal.

Thank you. One of my favorite books growing up was The Secret Garden by Francis Hodgson Burnett - lost count of how many times I re-read it - about how growing a garden brings health and life and vitality back to three ill people. I wanted something of that flavor in this storylet.

This series is so well-written and believable. It's nice to see them happy in their retirement and great to see Watson able to, after the passage of time, regard thunderstorms without anxiety.

"Malamute" starts with Holmes and Watson covering the car and the hives in preparation for a storm - and "Flora" ends the same way. But now Watson has taken the same road to health and wellness that Mary, Colin and Dickon used in The Secret Garden, and it's no longer a fearsome prospect.
