Bacchus wept.

Like most of us, I can't get my head around the fact that an entire city has been destroyed. And that people are starving and dying right in their tracks, by the hundreds. And that a city I remember with such good memories from a visit in 1988 is -- gone.

And I am so full of rage at this unspeakable administration right now...

No, Bush didn't cause Katrina. He only ignored every piece of scientific research that predicted this, that called for wetland protection and levy maintenance. He only wasted resources that could have eased this situation quicker. (National Guards? Trucks, tanks? Oh, they're in Iraq. I'm sure they'll find those WMDs any day now.) His administration only cut funding for the New Orleans Corps of Engineers, against all reasoned arguments for funding, to focus on Homeland Security (aka Strip-Search Everybody Named Mohammed) and to finance that fucking, useless, pointless, precious war of his. Republicans never saw a wild land they didn't like to develop -- so all the wetlands that would have protected NO a little better from the force of Katrina were gone without replacement. Since the BushII Administration policy is to remove all science that doesn't follow neo-con policies, they simply excised every mention of environmental protection from legislation for repair funding.

And golly, I haven't heard from Jerry Falwell -- isn't it about now that he should start blaming feminists and homosexuals for the devastation?

republicans are evil, politics, pissy feminist
