Chugging along
I'm still here, I just feel like i have so much going on in my head I can barely keep it all straight and don't feel like spewing too much in here for fear of boring everyone. A bullet list of some things that have been going on:
Kids:
Payton seems to really like kindergarten and is making friends which I love to see. Waking her up in the morning is tough and she is grumpy pretty much until she gets on the bus. Luckily it's only about another month until she can sleep in a little longer once we move. We went through the local rec book to see which types of classes or sports she might want to do int he fall and she chose cheerleading. Um, ok. I'm hopin g I can convince her to try t-ball or tennis or something in the spring, she has a really good throwing arm!
Thatcher starts a one day a week preschool next week for 2 year olds. This will be his first real regular time away from me and the more we talk about it the more excited he seems. It's amazing to me how much he's changed, even over the last few months. He's much less clingy with me, and really open to making friends. His 3rd birthday is a little over a month away and we're keeping it low key since it's right around our move, but are trying to figure out something fun to do to celebrate.
House:
The contractor gave us a revised move in date for late October, and I swear it cannot come soon enough. I've tried really hard not to complaint too much about our apartment, but I am OVER IT! I need out of here!
As far as the house, the exterior was graded last week which made a HUGE difference, hardwoods are done, tiling is done (I am IN LOVE with the kitchen backsplash tile) door knobs are in, most of the plumbing is done and a few appliances are in as well. This week they are wrapping up some trim work, finishing plumbing, finishing cabling.

Shopping:
We made a list if stuff we need/want to buy before and right around the time we move
Washer and dryer
Freezer
Mail box
Black-out window coverings for kids rooms
For Master Bedroom:, Bed, Mattress and box spring, bedside tables, console table, bedding
For Thatchers bedroom: Bed, Mattress and box spring, bed side table, chair or bean bag chair
For library: Bookshelves, filing cabinets
For hearth room: Tall bookshelf/cabinet
For kitchen: barstools
For storage area/garage: Gorilla racks, snow blower, chainsaw, pole saw, roll out garbage cans
There are honestly a ton of other things we need/want but there is only so much money growing on our money tree and we don't want to pick it all at once.
Oh yeah, and we bought a truck. We got what we think is a great deal on an older truck that we think will come in handy with all the crap we need to buy and moving our stuff from the apartment to the house.
Misc:
I'm doing research on moving announcement. I swear I need to learn to become a graphic designer because I have such concrete ideas about what I want and how I want things to come together that when I can't find the EXACT thing I get frustrated. I'm trying to let go and remind myself that nobody gives a rats butt about our moving announcements but me, but I'm also German and giving up control is hard to do.
Im still working on getting a blog up too. I figure I need a place to put all these ideas I have swirling about the house, and would like to get one up before we send out moving announcements so I can put the blog address on them as well.
On top of all of this we have a giant list of fall family activities we want to make time for and I'm currently obsessed with finding good Halloween costumes since Halloween is right when we move and I don't want to scramble for costumes in the middle of our move.
