Longest Recumbent Ride So Far

Jul 15, 2005 11:26

I stretched for a few minutes and got caught up in Surprise by Design, so I decided to do the recumbent biking today.  I usually ride for 10 minutes when I do it, but today I went for 20 and yes, it was stretching my comfort level.  So that's good.  Now, I figure, I'll do 20 every time I hop on, because I know I can do it.  I could have gone longer, but reaching 20 minutes was very happy and very much a relief to finally get there.  It's still not completely comfortable.  I don't have it adjusted to the perfect spot, but it's hard to do that.  I'm too big to move the seat just a little bit and sit in it at the same time.  So, I have to get up, unscrew it, guess where a good spot might be, screw it back in and sit down.  Getting it close is good enough for me.  I still ride with a pillow behind my back, but also pushed up a litte more toward the edge of the seat.

The riding today was a good workout for my aductor (I think) muscles right above the knee.  When I was done pedalling, I got on the treadmill and I could really feel it in that spot.  I only walked for about 2 minutes, and then did the first two songs from Richard Simmons.  I feel like I still need some arm work, but the day is young.  Maybe I can get another 20 minutes ride in with arm weights while Margaux walks on the treadmill this afternoon.
