Thanks to everyone for their wonderful suggestions to my Lilly of the Valley post, I have ended up planting a couple of white Dicentra and 4 or 5 Digitalis plants around the area where we planted the Lilly of the Valley. The Digitalis should give beautiful late summer colour and height to that area once the Lilly of the Valley and the Dicentra are

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a perennial that I can plant amongst a patch of Lilly of the Valley that will take over when the Lilly of the Valley is done blooming? This patch is in pretty deep shade amongst tall trees so also fairly dry. USDA 8ish, I live in Co. Kildare in Ireland.
My husband left the poly tunnel door open for a couple of nights when it froze, killed all our early cauliflower and leek seedlings. I can't get it through his head that he needs to close that door even if he's working in there, it's too cold right now. *Bangs Head on Desk*
We had a weird year weather wise. We had a very dry couple of months in spring and then a very mediocre growing season. It caused a few of our crops to bolt and a few to not do very well. My garden's slowly coming along, and the vegetable patch has been bordered out into a raised bed with some soil in it (the gardeners are using the soil from the garden as they've said it's very fertile, so I suspect our only issue with it was the stones.
