From a previous homeowner springs this into life each year, with onion smelling thin leaves and this flower: white, about one half inch in diameter, six petals with pale purple stripe running down the middle, and the bulb a small one from a largish clump. The flower itself has no smell. I transplanted it from a single foot-wide clump in the ground to a large container and it is doing splendidly.
