I'm relatively new to direct sowing seeds and I'm a little confused. I ordered some native seeds (exciting!!!) for fall sowing. Most of the seeds come with the recommendation to sow after a hard frost. What's confusing me is whether they can be sown early and lie dormant so they'll already be in place when we get frosts. It's still in the high 70s low 80s here although cooling down slowly. I have a couple that say they'll germinate upon sowing in a warm location. Will they germinate now then die in the frost? I'd like to plant as much now as possible, as I'm putting in a no-mow grass mix in some open areas nearby and would like to avoid disturbing it too much. I listed below what I have, in case anyone's familiar, although just general advice is fine.
Liatris punctata (Dotted Blazing Star)
Sedum pulchellum (Widow's Cross)
Castilleja sessiliflora (Downy Painted Cup)
Veronicastrum virginicum (Culver's Root)
Dodecatheon amethystinum (Amethyst Shooting Star)
Mitella diphylla (Bishop's Cap)
Carex rosea (Curly-styled Wood Sedge)
Liatris punctata (Dotted Blazing Star)
Geum triflorum (Prairie Smoke)
Koeleria cristata (June Grass)
