More of a farming question....
Can anyone identify what plant this might be? It looks like a weed/wildflower, when cut it's milky, like a milkweed, and it was very solidly planted in individual fields, but not "planted" in rows or to what looked like an on purpose planting. It also was not spread to other fields, or had been plowed under in neighboring fields....which threw us, if it was a weed...we expected more spreading. Some of us got to thinking it might have been planted as a sacrificial crop...but damned if we know what it could be....
