Garden peas,
Tomorrow will be the first garden planting of the year. Garden or English peas. I finally came to grips with the fact that I'm not a fan of sugar snap type peas so I won't be growing them this year. The peas will be planted in the backyard which will be partial shade once the trees leaf out. I trenched the bed this afternoon and early evening. That is I dug down about a foot and set the dirt aside, tomorrow I'll go down another foot. I'll layer some leaves and dirt in the bottom half of the trench and dirt and compost and black wood ash in the top layer. The peas seeds are already sprouted, and I innouclate them with legume bacteria tommorrow before planting. I'll plant about 4 oz. of seed in a 100 square foot bed, half and half Karina and Laxton's progress no. 9.
