Hi everyone, just a quick question. A friend has given me a large bag of sunflower bird-seeds. The bag has ripped open and I need to get rid of the seeds pretty quickly as I don't want to feed the local mice population - the birds kenna take any more, Captain! :) I know I can pop the seeds in a container but I was wondering, if I plant them out and about in the garden, do you think there is a chance they will grow? I'm in Australia, in Melbourne, Victoria. We're in the depth of winter just at the moment. I don't get snow where I am, and it is not tropical, just chilly and wet :) I'm not sure what zone you would call it under the current tags :D I have no idea what species of sunflower they came from, it's just a generic bird-seed branded seed.
