I let my garden really get out of hand. With the not-so-good weather and starting a new job, I've neglected simple things like pinching tomato suckers and weeding.
Today I went out and weeded the best I could, it's going to rain tomorrow and a far forseeable future (surprise) so I want to just buy mulch and thickly cover what's left the best I can, and then pick what weeds show through or continue to grow after that. Trying to cut newspaper, cardboard or landscape fabric to fit between plants, at this point, would be an exercise in frustration.
Is putting mulch down a good option at this point or am I just going to waste money? (I know it needs mulch anyway but leave that out of the equation, please).
(You know what's funny? Grass is growing better in the soil in my garden than it is in my lawn. I've never seen it grow so fast, or grow in so lush and GREEN. Dammit! Grass is the major weed at this point.)
