it's a typical memorial day weekend here in the PNW (aka clouds and highs in the 60s) so we did some gardening. Our front yard has some major drainage issues, plus everything was pretty overgrown. While my husband put in a french drain, I worked on cleaning and prettifying the front yard area. I dug up all the weeds and sod, put down landscaping fabric, some paver bricks and drainage rocks, put down stepping stones pathway, and planted some flowers, tranplanted irises (i know, not the best time, but they were being choked in their current location), and spread some annual seedlings.
Before:
and after. the tall poles are to remind people not to walk over my newly planted area. we're planning on also putting down a bark mulch to help with the weeds
another before picture. you can tell yard work was low on our list of priorities
and after - exact same views
my kids gave me these flowers for mother's day, so I planted them next to their stepping stones they made at school
my kids also heartily approved of the new landscaped area. perfect for a quick snack!
thanks for looking! my next front yard task is to divide all those daylillies and redo the drip lines for the front yard fruit trees. our backyard garden boxes get much more love.
