I bought this fig tree at the local garden center. I was very excited. I had not seen fig trees out here and I have always wanted one. My Abuelo had a huge one in his back yard in Los Angeles. Mine is small, because it's in a pot. The problem is now the pot is FULL of roots, they are completely stuffed in this huge, 3 cubic foot pot. I only got a few figs this year that matured and ripened:
But most of them did not ripen, and I have no idea what sort of fig this is. Does anyone have an idea and could you give me some advice for container gardening a fig/fruit tree? Should I put a shunt down and feed it water from the bottom up and not the top down? This is what it looked like in the Fall (we put it in a bigger pot, but it's not really all that much bigger, maybe 1 more cu feet. Do you prune fig trees this small? I would like some advice on the maintenance of it.
