Cold Frames
I have a large pane of glass in my garage (I'm guess it was once a shower door or a sliding glass door) and I've been planning on making it into a cold frame. I was wondering how many of you use cold frames and what your experiences have been. Are they handy? Too time intensive (always opening/closing it for ventilation)? Do you use them to extend the fall or only in spring for seedlings? Have any of you gone high tech with self-opening cold frames?
In my dreamworld, I'll have a small solar panel to power a thermometer and an automatic opener. Of course in my dreamworld I have 100% success with my seeds and no pests or diseases either.
