Spotlight! Tags! Assistant Moderator!
Well guess what everyone, with us being the growing community that we are (in more than one sense), LiveJournal would like to feature us as a Spotlight on the main site later this month. How exciting eh?
With this increased publicity, there will be a few things we must all be aware of, at least until the hubub dies down again. We will likely get an influx of new members, new posts, and replies. To help keep things sane, on-topic, and in accordance with our community guidelines, I am thinking of making posting moderated during the spotlight window, and a little after, and then reverting back to our current state.
I am also looking to you, community veterans, to help us all out by being welcoming and helpful to our new members, and assist in tagging where needed. If you're ever in need of a new tag, or feel a post needs moderator attention, feel free to use the tags for such, and I will make a point of checking those tags at least daily.
I am also looking for an additional helping hand (or possibly two) during this time, to help with post approval and oversight of comments, so we can keep our happy community happy. I am accepting applications and nominations for this position now, and hope to have a decision made by the end of the week. I'd like to have my new assistant in-place BEFORE the Spotlight listing goes live, so that there is some adjustment period where questions and such can be fielded in a more relaxed community usage pace, before things get crazy. I may be looking for two assistants, as I have been ill of-late and there is a possibility of a hospital stay which may coincide with the Spotlight. I do not know yet how my internet access would be during this time, so if such seems imminent I will certainly call upon a second helping hand, and will notify the community at-large as well, just so everyone knows what is going on.
