There are a lot of little brown "rusty" spots on my strawberry leaves, some on my raspberries and other berry bushes I have planted near them. I just planted them last weekend and they were fine before then, but this week has been really rainy, foggy, humid and warm.
I Googled for info and found these two pages:
http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/pp/extension/tfabp/lspsmf.shtmlhttp://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/pp/extension/tfabp/salsmf.shtml The spots look more like the first page but not with as bright a center of the spots. My first thought was that the rain washed mud up on them but the spots don't wipe off. The spots are more on the leaves near the bottom, in most cases the upper leaves are (so far) unaffected.
The spots are the worst on my two strawberry plants - one is Sparkle and one is Ozark Beauty. I just purchased them from a good nursery nearby, along with my raspberry, blackberry and blueberry plants.
I have sprayed them twice with Neem oil (one last week and one this week) although it has been rainy.
Can someone recommend a treatment for whatever this is? The page kind of hints at using a fungicide, I was under the assumption (ie: read somewhere on the internet) neem oil was a mild fungus preventative. Should I pick off the infected leaves, or wait until the rainy weather clears up and then pick them off? Spray them with something? Put newspaper/something down under them?
(If necessary I can provide photos, I'm just being lazy and found those websites to be a pretty good representation of what they look like.)
