Progress on the big project

Garden as it actually exists now. Green background is temporary grass clipping mulch, brown is more long term pine mulch. White graph paperish area is not yet tilled or planted. Corn is in the ground but future will include raised beds in this area. Raspberries are in ground and will stay there.

Plans include alpine strawberry bed, asparagus bed, fig tree, 2 blueberry bushes. Corn illustrated in 2 raised beds to indicate general area it was planted this years. Blank beds are planted as illustrated in above picture. Left upper corner is a shady area that will be laid out as a small sitting area.

Eventually there will be 8 raised beds for crop rotation. There will also be perennial areas for alpine strawberries, Heritage raspberries, herbs, asparagus, 2 blueberry bushes and a fig tree. The whole thing will be fenced on 3 sides and border a shed on the 4th. UH OH, I just realized critters live under that shed...more thought required on that bit.

Pictures of the progress to date (almost). It was after planting the corn patch but before planting the raspberries.

The sugar snap pea horizontal trellis is working out. So far there are 3 layers and I'm about to do the 4th.

I've done a temporary chicken wire fence as the bunnies are out.

Everything is growing well except the spring onions from seed and the carrots from seed.

We have been eating lettuce, mustard and beet greens and broccoli so far.

I think I will plant a container of peas very densely to use for pea tendrils.
