Hello! New here, and really pleased to have found this comm! I have a quick question re: iris and another re: Mexican feather grass.
I'm in Texas (zone 9), and am currently limited to container gardening, which I've been lucky enough to do fairly well with. That being said, when I moved down here in August from zone 8 I lost a lot of things to the heat, so I'm a little twitchy about this summer. I found a great iris farm up in north Texas, though, that has historical ones - how well would one that's used to 8 do in a container here? I've got tons of experience growing them normally and you almost have to try to kill them in the ground, but I've never tried growing them here or in a container.
About the grass. I have a pot of it on my balcony table as a centerpiece. It gets partial sun and I've tried to keep the watering even but not overdone, and I do believe it is deader than a doornail. My cat ate half of it, but the bunch that she didn't touch went from green to kind of tawny within a couple of weeks. Google turned up info that it goes "buffy" over the winter, but I'm thinking it's just dead. What would've killed it? Lack of sun, or...?
Thanks!
