I was looking for advice on how to handle a garden pest that you may have had to deal with.. one that just enters the garden and tramples your flowers without care..
This particular breed of species is known as a postal worker.
My mail slot is in the front of the house, which has a two-step porch.. just your typical cement porch (maybe 4 feet by 5 feet?) on a bungalow type house. Its not very big, and the mail carrier has taken to the habit of NOT climbing the stairs to put the mail in the slot, but instead walks through the flower garden next to the porch and slips the mail in that way. Its bad enough that they walk through my yard instead of using the sidewalk, but now that my spring bulbs are coming up (crocuses, daffodils, and tulips are all in her path) I am really getting upset.
Any advice on how to handle this? Should I try to install some sort of mini-fence? Stepping stones? A giant "KEEP YOUR STINKY FEET OUT OF MY GARDEN" sign? Complain to the post office?
I really am on a tight budget right now..
Also, how at risk are my flowers.. I will probably plant some mid-late summer perennials in this same spot later this year..
