I might be growing sweet potatoes successfully for the first time ::fingers crossed::, but I have a few questions. In NJ I planted them ever year and at some point early on, they were eaten by a hungry woodchuck, rabbit or skunk. Mine are growing strong, deep green, I plant intensely, so I didn't so much "hill them up" as add six inches of peat moss and compost. My question is what do I do with the runners that are starting to agressively spread and root. I'm thinking that if these roots produce I should be adding compost to the rooting parts but I've never gotton this far before.
Now the hydrangea question. They bloomed beautifully this year, but now all the blooms are brown, should I be cutting them off and composting them now, or just let them fall off by themselves. And if I do the latter do I leave them as mulch, or compost them.
thanks in advance
