Orchids?

My Mum has acres and acres of veggie gardens and taught me everything I know about them... but she has a really rotten track record with house plants - she's killed every single one of them she's ever gotten. One of my Mum's clients only knew that she loved outside gardening and thought that translated to inside as well and got my Mum the biggest most beautiful orchid plant EVER as a gift...

That was about six months ago. It's almost dead at this point. I moved into my new house over the weekend and asked if I could have the plant and try to nurse it back to health. ;p (Including things like: Oy, Mum. You killed it!!! XD)

A bit of info - it's kind of droopy looking - most of the blossoms were yellowish/brown, so I carefully picked them off - there are three blossoms left that look somewhat good, so I left them. I rinsed the pot under water for about a minute, and put it in a somewhat shady spot (it won't get direct sun there, but it gets plenty of light).

I know nothing about orchids, but all my house plants are very healthy, so I'm ready to take care of it and give it the love it needs~ Any tips you can give me? :)
