Last year, while at my local grocer, they were having a sale on a big sack of onions. Since we do a decent amount of cooking at my household, I figured what the heck, and bought it. We went through most of them (they actually lasted a LONG time!) before a couple of them were forgotten in the fridge abyss. When I discovered them a couple of months later, they had started sprouting. So, I took them to my garden, and planted them! They did very well and actually bloomed. I meant to pull them up after they finished doing their "stuff" but forgot about them, and they've re-sprouted and re-bloomed this year. Hopefully I won't forget this year to pull them up and see what they've done. :-)
So, guess what happened this time? I had about half of a bulb of garlic (about 7 or 8 cloves) sitting in my fridge for quite a while and they started sprouting! I discovered them this weekend, so what did I do? I took them outside and planted them. hee hee. Just wondering if I'm the only one goofy enough to do this. I think most people just either toss them when they start sprouting (sad!) or just cut off the vegetation and use it anyway...
