Keeping Deer Out

Long ago I remember hearing of a method of keeping deer out of the garden that involved a double row of fencing but I cannot remember the spacing between the two rows. The idea is that they jump very high but are not so willing to commit to a long jump.

Anyone also heard of this or know what the minimum distance is? I would hate to put in all that effort to get the spacing wrong. Thanks.
