i got my first hickey
so how has my life been? its been three weeks since i left home.
outdoor orientation of hiking in the wilderness of Idylwild was "so intense we weren't in tents". we summitted three peaks in 4 days, ate ramen from water that never fully boiled, played hacki-sack, sang disney songs, played 10 fingers, had sleepingbag wars and discussed in detail all our favorite types of food.
then, freshman orientation - the series of awkward bonding experiences in the beginning of the year. there was a luau, a carnival, and a dance - the dance was the best, i met 2 awesome portlanders who i hung out with for a few hrs after the dance.
o, and then 6-01: ie the day when alcohol begins being allowed on campus (the first week is called 'dry week' ) also known as my birthday. that day was definitely a day to tell the grandkids. so much dissapprovable stuff. my roomates got piercings (not me), my roomates bought alot of pariphenalia (sp?) at the smoke shop including a huka (also not me), we went all over campus celebrating at each different college (me included), and then my roomates and i danced in the fountain. then there was a boy, but i wont talk about that via lj too much - we're just friends- im not doing the whole dating thing right now.
my first whole week of classes ensued - i have Beginning Drawing mon/wed, Precalculus mon/wed/fri, Core tues/wed/thurs, Writing class - "digital women" is the title - on tues, thurs, and i havent gone to my PE class yet cuz i had to recently switch into it, but its called "turbo kickboxing" and im pumped for it. so far there hasnt been too much hw. though i did have an essay for my writing class, an autoethnology where i talked about the lj experience. also, i cant believe i spent 50$ on drawing pencils!!!
speaking of spending money rediculously fast, i am out of control. im pretty sure its been around 500+$ by now. 300 of it was for school and will be reimbursed (thanks mom!) but thats still over 200 on random stuff! examples: a leopard print rug, a blender, a goldfish, an outfit for Naughty School Girls party, fan for our non-AC room, food, really expensive haircut, pillows, hangers, sunglassses, too much randoms stuff to count. i feel almost dirty for spending so much. definitely a case of buyer's remorse
the foods been great here, nuf said bout that
the workouts were really good the first week, kinda good the second week, and nonexistent these past 5 days (im already on a path to fat)
alison zenel and i have been hanging out randomly. she is so much fun to be around - i love having a home connection to talk about how much i miss everybody, and to show my summer photos to (they are beautiful btw), and to do cartwheels with through sprinkler and on the spectacularly gorgeous lawns.
and then matt, o my wow. and to start off, no we are not together, but i havent felt so loved in a long time. we've been talking on the phone, having extremely movie-perfect connections almost to the point of sci-fi creepyiness, and then he sent me an email. i wasnt sure if id post this online at first cuz i kinda wanted to keep it for myself. basically the nicest thing anybodys said to me- keeps me floating happy and missing him intensely. if u wanna know more, call me - odds are i want to hear about you too! bwah... love!
went to parties 4 days ina row. thats more than ive ever imagined myself doing. im happy to say that tonight i am doing nothing. i have no homework and i have no plans. ill watch crappy tv and read Call of the Wild.
random side note: i had a dream of a memory where amy (sistah) was telling me about Call of the Wild. i checked it out of the library the next day. i then finished reading the latest of my Douglas Coupland book binge and am going to try and read this new one all today.
my suitemate ariel and i have become really close. she is amazing and we have exactly the same sense of humor and enjoy dancing randomly in the streets all the time and yea. we named it bbfff - bitchen best friends forever, foreva-ever, foreva-eva (in the outkast style if you can think of it in the right way)
wow - this is turning into an odyssey. ill just stop.
