insomnia strikes, so what better time to update my LJ? ;)
i had a very nice xmas at my parents' house. jonathan and i came down on the 23rd and so did my sister. we had a nice leisurely xmas day exchanging presents, eating on and off all day, and watching march of the penguins that night. what a cute movie! then jonathan had to head back to work and my brother and sister-in-law came down. we had second xmas yesterday - exchanged gifts with them and had another xmas dinner. i'm headed home later today - i should probably walk the 200+ miles given the amount of food i've consumed over the past 6 days. heheh
seriously though, it's been really nice to relax and catch up with my family. and i love xmas. it's great fun for me - shopping for others, watching people open presents, seeing all of the decorations, etc. i won't miss the music though. i've heard enough of that to last me another year.
i hope you all had a nice holiday - whether it be christmas, chanukah, or simply time off from work because the christians and jews have holidays at this time of year. :) i, myself, am a self-proclaimed pagan, but i love xmas. since i don't exactly celebrate the birth of a person in whom i don't necessarily believe, i personally use it as a time to think of others, bring people joy, and be thankful for how fortunate i am. and i'm okay with that.
during this time, i reflected a bit on the past year. 2005 was a stellar year for me all-in-all. i got to do a lot of travel this year: las vegas, austin, baltimore, philly, oahu, tampa, portland (ME), oxford (MI), new york, outer banks, dewey beach, and mont tremblant. i traveled for work, to see new places, to visit friends, for vacation.... i got in significant beach time, which is always a plus in my book. i took two classes and got A's in both. i celebrated another anniversary and another birthday. i got to see some friends i hadn't seen in years. i drank good wine, ate good food, spent lots of time with great friends, celebrated with dear friends as they got married, heard good music, danced.... and i ended the year by purchasing a new house in the city i love. stellar year. i'm not sure how 2006 can top that, but here's hoping. :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
