quick, general update

so much going on these days.

it's official. tomorrow i'm headed to AAMC in the afternoon to meet with some folks there and get the ball rolling on helping them finish up this article. so i'm now a temporary employee there, as well as still working at the nursery. for september, i will work 4 days at the nursery, and 1 day for AAMC. the best part - i get to telecommute for my old job, so most of the time i'll be working from home. yay! and for that 1 day of work, i'll make a week's worth of salary at the nursery. double yay!

in similar job-related news, my former boss, ed, just switched jobs himself. within 3 days of being at his new job, he emailed me asking me if i was ready to come back to the data world. (i'm also helping ed and his wife with their garden.) i've decided to hear him out; see what he has to offer. i liked working with him before - we work very well together. he wasn't the person i had issues with. so we'll see. i'll keep you posted.

but enough of work stuff. on to fun stuff. i have today off from the nursery and am filling my day with a bit of gardening and a bunch of errands. tomorrow, as already mentioned, i head back to my old job for the afternoon. then it's off to NY for electric zoo! our friends, paul and ashley, have already flown in from texas and it'll be great to see them there. and the weather should be PERFECT!!! sunny and in the mid 70s. could you ask for anything better?

of this year's lineup, i'm most excited to see/hear (in no particular order) the chemical brothers, kaskade, afrojack, richie hawtin, paco osuna, martyn, rusko, and above & beyond. the festival runs from 11 am to 11 pm and we have to leave early on sunday, so i'm bummed to miss marco carola and sander van doorn. i have to work on monday and don't want to get back to DC at 1 am just to hear them. regardless, should be a lot of fun. i'm sure we'll see our fair share - let me rephrase that - more than our fair share of bulging pecs and bromance. and with any luck, the same vegetarian vendor that was there last year will be there this year. i'm hoping for a yummy black bean toastie! (yes, it really was that good. i still remember it a year later and have even made them a couple times at home.) if i can find a good pair of cargo pants today, i'll try to remember the camera and post some pics.

even though it's only september 2nd, i fully expect september to FLY by. the entire month is pretty much booked solid. so much so that i'm now starting to make plans for weeknights! seriously, it's insane. on the agenda for coming weeks:

road trip to indiana with jonathan
beach with jonathan
dinner with keith & elana for keith's bday
tentative top chef finale viewing party
over to ed and donna's to help them plan their garden

and then it's october, which includes a trip to NC, a visit from karen and her oldest daughter, a potential visit from mom & dad, and a delivery of 1000 tulip bulbs that will have to get planted. yep, you read that right. i ordered 1000 tulip bulbs. but that's another post for another time. for now, i gotta get myself together and get out in the yard before it gets too hot. later!

i love my life, travel, music, work, job search
