job # 1 down the tubes
so i just heard from the smithsonian that i did not get an internship for the summer. :( might call the arboretum today to find out if they have finished their selection process. and no word from the other 2 regular jobs for which i applied.
the lack of good news has me down a bit, but i'm going to refocus my energy when i get back from greece. i'm still optimistic that i'll be working somewhere new by june. the smithsonian internship program was the first to which i applied and one i really wanted. they have fall interships, so i might call and talk to the person who emailed me - see if she thinks i have a chance at a fall internship. i would expect those to be less competitive and if i end up working at a nursery for spring and summer, i may well end up unemployed for the fall. though in reality, i'd expect to be employable at a nursery for spring, summer, and fall, then unemployed for winter. and if that happens, i suppose i could do SAS programming on a contract basis. gotta keep reminding myself that i have valued skills.
