So about the only thing Kurama can do that really needs permission is sense general creature- and power-types. He's a demon on the inside, and has spent a while working for the celestial bureaucracy, so he's very good at picking up other demons, and usually able to suss out other things too, based on what sort of power they use. If your character channels energy (ki, magic, electricity, kitten sneezes) he may be able to sense something of his or her power level, and possibly what type of energy is at hand.

TO SUM UP, please indicate if:
1) there's anything supernatural about your character that Kurama might notice
2) your character channels energy and if so what kind / how powerfully
