I wouldn't be posting on LiveJournal except I'm on a high dosage of amphetamines.

I have changed so much in the past year that looking back at my old self kinda disgusts me. I don't really feel like getting into specifics but I like to think that I've become significantly more mature and socially competent. Oh but so much more than that.

But I digress. The real content of this post is about why I'm exceptionally pissed off. Pissed off because no one seems to care that whichever of the two major political parties they are limiting themselves to are at all a good choice. It's not going to happen but my opinion is the country's two-party system is desperately in need of a new major presence.
I am surprised to find myself saying that at this point I have no affiliation with the Democrats at all and will not be registering as one come this December. They have failed at everything they would ever be elected for. They hardly made an effort to restore fucking habeas corpus. And as my economic and political views have taken a sharp turn to the right I find myself agreeing with them on fewer and fewer issues.
I'm not sure if this has been widely recognized, but as of the end of last month there had been one scandal in the GOP every week since the beginning of the year (link). Obviously this is not to imply there is something inherently corrupt about right-wingers, but it's very difficult to argue that there isn't something fundamentally wrong within this party at this time. While I am strong in my favoring of smaller government and less intervention in the economy, Republicans have failed to focus on these issues as the economy continues on its downward spiral and threatens the nation's health. Instead they are wasting everyone's time, money, and rights with trivial and short-sighted exploits in foreign affairs. However, one member of the Republican party I find to be quite different, and is my current choice as a presidential candidate. THAT'S RIGHT EVERYBODY I'M VOTING REPUBLICAN. You may laugh at me for choosing him, but Ron Paul is the only candidate in the runnings who strikes me as somewhat honest. But more importantly he is isolationist at the time that isolationism is most necessary, is vehemently disgusted with the current state of our civil liberties, and is focused on the aforementioned Republican values like he should.
