Bikes . . . you know, rhymes with Yikes . . .

What ever am I going to do when it gets too cold and weathery to ride anymore? I know how the weather is, what the wind is like. I interact with people along the road. Other cyclists wave, even the fancy special clothing riders. Kids say hi. I mortify my daughter by going through drive-thrus on my bike. I didn't have the heart to tell her I wore my pink pants today. She would have died on the spot. Poor kid. At least I'm well groomed. After work I went to Walgreen's to get my meds, then back over to Dick's for some milk. Don't know why I chose that way, it was way inefficient but a lot of fun. The only down side was riding uphill into a headwind. That was fun. New adventure in sucking air, but fun in a weird, sadistic way. Something about defeating the elements and moving under my own power that is very satisfying. I found a dime on the road. Found a plastic dinosaur once, too.

We had a lock-down drill yesterday, and I am still out of sorts from it. I did everything very, very wrong. First, I was in the choral room talking to my sister and had no idea we had gone into lock-down. Went across to the aud anyway, because I have people I'm responsible for. The kids kept turning on the followspots so they could have a bit of light in the darkness. A police officer opened our conveniently unlocked door and I yelled at him. Felt stupid when the whole thing was over. Still do.

Anyone in need of a sweet little kitty? LD is discovering that a kitten in an apartment with two people with allergies doesn't work. I CANNOT deal with another animal.

I need to fix dinner. I'm way hungry.
